Highland County

Health Department

 

     

      Highland County is a rural county of rolling hills and farmland.  The county has 554 square miles of land, and approximately 42,850 residents.  The county continues to grow rapidly, and is estimated to have a population of 49,000 by 2015.

      The Highland County Health Department (HCHD) is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and improving the health of residents of the Highland County.  Located in Hillsboro, OH, the health department provides valuable services to the community through a wide range of programs.

      The Environmental Health Division provides several important services and programs for the county.  These services and programs include food safety, household wastewater (septic) treatment, private water systems, school inspection, nuisance, tattoo and body piercing, manufactured home park, public pool safety, and various residential/recreational campground inspections.  More information on these valuable services to the community can be found on the main Environmental Health Page.

     

      The Public Health Nursing Division is active in improving the health and safety of the community.  This is accomplished through affordable immunizations and shots, health clinics, the Care-A-Van program, communicable disease monitoring, the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps Program, health counseling services, and other services.  See the Public Health Nursing Main Page for more information on these services.
