Go Bag

 

Your personal go bag should include at least the following items:

Water for 3 days (1 gallon per person per day)

 

Non-perishable food for 3 days

 

Prescription Medicine and other unique family medical items

 

Battery powered radio

 

Extra batteries

 

Flashlight

 

First aid kit

 

Dust mask

 

Moist towelettes

 

Pliers or wrench

 

Can opener

 

Plastic sheeting

 

Antiseptic ointment

 

 

Vitamins

 

Sunscreen

 

Insect repellant

 

Extra glasses or contacts

 

Toiletry items

 

One complete set of warm clothing,      

including shoes

 

Bedding

 

Any other personal items deemed necessary

 

Garbage bags and ties

 

Duct tape

 

Basic Filter Mask (available at hardware stores)

There are several things that you can do to prepare your family for an emergency.  Some basic information is contained below.  For more detailed information, visit the Preparedness Links page and look at the Red Cross and Ready.gov pages.

 

Make a plan:

Know how you and your family will communicate in an emergency

Know how you and your family will shelter in place if needed

Know how you and your family will evacuate if needed

Know who and where to call for information in emergencies

 

Get some gear:

Have enough supplies to care for your family for at least 3 days

Get involved:

Consider joining a local volunteer group, like Citizen’s Corps, the Medical Reserve Corps, or the Red Cross.
